SMEG LAUNCHES THE NEW HIGH-END DOLCE STIL NOVO COLLECTION
The doors have opened at this year’s Eurocucina event in Milan, Italy, and Smeg have some exciting new products to talk about on stand. One of the most striking is the new Dolce Stil Novo range, the most elegant and technically advanced collection of appliances released by Smeg so far. With touchscreen controls, metallic trim, cutting edge Eclipse glass and new flat ‘blade’ gas hobs, what’s not to love about this beautiful new range.
Dolce Stil Novo comprises of minimalist built-in appliances, created in collaboration with long-time design partner and award winning architect, Guido Canali. The range includes highly detailed ovens, compacts, hobs, wine coolers, coffee machines, hoods and drawers, all of which fit together for a seamless high-end appearance. When it came to naming this strikingly avant-garde collection, Smeg took influence from a 13th Century literary movement in Sicilian and Tuscan love poetry, also called Dolce Stil Novo, which translates from the Italian as ‘Sweet New Style’. And it is certainly is that, launching Smeg into new heights of design, craftsmanship and technological innovation.
Some of the most exciting innovations can be found on the hobs, which have been playfully inspired by nature. The range includes four incredible flora and fauna-themed hobs with premium titanium pan stands. These have been cast into delicate shapes of leaves, butterflies, fruit and birds, all of which were chosen by Smeg CEO Vittorio Bertazzoni in an ode to his love of the outdoors. These beautiful pieces are a showcase of Smeg’s creative soul and a never-before-seen emotive expression in domestic appliances. Each one is considered a work of art, transforming the practical into something truly beautiful, but not at the expense of comprehensive functionality.
